The Best SEO Tools for Your Ecommerce Website

For an eCommerce website, new traffic sources are as important as customer retention. In fact, they’re often addressed within the same strategy.

But how to drive traffic to your business website the most effectively?

This is the answer SEO tools are trying to help you figure out. They’re in charge of bringing in and managing organic traffic which could further nourish your business operations.

But is SEO a strategic lane to prioritize when it comes to sales leveraging efforts? A SmartInsights report indicates the following figures for 2016:

  • 40% direct traffic
  • 34% search-driven traffic
  • 10% of the traffic coming from referral sites.

While direct traffic is placed the highest on the list, it’s worth keeping in mind a good part of it comes via untraceable funnels. With search engine traffic, you have precise metrics to indicate and track performance.

So, indeed, SEO is the way to go for 2017 as well.

To help you with that, here’s a breakdown of some friendly tools to help you achieve the SEO performance you deserve.

1. MozPro – Seamless SEO Campaigns

Did anyone say SEO campaign? Because this is where it all starts – designing the best plan for your eCommerce website.

But what to begin with?

You have MozPro to take charge at this point.

They really put some effort into creating insightful features. And each one of them contains a key term – ‘rankings’.

So it’s pretty clear what MozPro helps eCommerces on their SEO journeys. Rank boosting and then some.

More to the point, the benefits you get are:

  • weekly keyword tracking across Google, Bing and Yahoo for more than 200 countries. The great news about this feature is it offers keyword segmentation by campaign, label and location.
  • search visibility score. Shows how your ranking fluctuates using position and CTR (click-through rate) metrics.
  • competitor rank tracking. Discover how top competitors fare on the first Google pages.
  • local ranking – manage geo-targeted keywords according to indicators from national to neighborhood levels.
  • mobile rankings displayed in comparison to desktop rankings.
  • understanding Search Engine Page Results (SERPs) – identify the traffic-boosting features and use them for the next campaigns.

This list is something more SEO tools have developed, but Moz adds a more thorough overview for each one of them.

You get cool stuff like keyword behavior prediction or long-tail suggestions. Moz also helps you be at the top of your game when it comes to link management or page optimization.

If an all-in-one SEO solution is what your eCommerce website is lacking, MozPro could be just what you were looking for a swift performance.

2. SpyFu – Competition Research for SEO and PPC

An eCommerce’s competitor moves are often the starting points for marketing campaigns. Once you identify the weak points or the lacking features in the competitors’ offer, you can adjust your next actions.

Broadly speaking, every eCommercer needs to know where they stand.

That’s what SpyFu gets right. And companies like Forbes, The Washington Post or The Wall Street Journal agree.

It’s because SpyFu:

“exposes the search marketing secret formula of your most successful competitors.”

Pretty impressive, right?

Just entering a domain name into the search bar is enough to get you insights into your competition’s last 10 years:

  • AdWords
  • organic ranks
  • ad behavior.

But what do you do with all this information once you get it? You get SpyFu to start building connections with the best in your industry.

Part of this tool’s popularity is due to the fact that it lets you track both SEO and AdWords campaigns.

In case you fear you might not get the most of what this tool has to offer, fret no more. They even provide resources to get you up to date with everything SEO-related.

3. Majestic – Link Management for Any Ecommerce Website

How can an eCommerce leverage a ‘link intelligence database’ like Majestic?

But first, how does knowing website link profiles help your online business?

Both questions have something in common – the need to manage the search engine performance of your platform so it works in the most optimal way.

More exactly, the links to and from your website must reflect a natural behavior in the eyes of Google. Your ranking could suffer if Google decides the link exchanges are not natural. Some fluctuations in link flow can be seen by Google as link schemes and thus penalized.

Majestic is an all-business tool offering which helps you understand how to use link behavior to your best advantage. Here’s a peek into Majestic features:

  • backlink profiles both for you and your competitors
  • the largest link index
  • referring domains
  • constantly updated content on demand
  • link efficiency
  • URL list analyzer
  • bulk backlink checker
  • anchor text profiles
  • the best-performing content in terms of backlinks.

If the whole picture seems a bit blurred for an SEO rookie, there’s no need to be worried. Majestic has an easy interface and clearly detailed insights.

And while you may be under the impression this tool is only for SEO agencies, you’ll soon realize what an asset backlink data is.

Mainly, it’s about understanding traffic fluctuations you’d otherwise not understand.

4. Ahrefs – for a Swift Ecommerce Website

SEO and content marketing? The Internet gods approve, validate and reward this partnership with consistent rank boosts. Even for eCommerces, that is.

In a way, Ahrefs is a similar tool to SpyFu and Majestic, but it provides extra features like:

  • crawl report
  • link intersect – shows what sites don’t link to your site, but to your competitors’
  • comprehensive quick look at your bulk link analysis
  • alerts on links, mentions and keyword rankings.

This way, you’ll never miss out on anything related to your eCommerce website’s SEO performance.

I agree with you that MozPro is an absolute game but the best part about the tools that company provides is that pretty much everything good about it is FREE. So if you’re on a shoestring budget and don’t want to invest on SEO tools yet, then the free services offered by Moz are the industry standard.
