Product Properties – Customer Choices

Customer Choices are found under the product menu on the left side.

Customer Choices allow you to create configurable options for products.  Examples of Customer Choices would be sizes: Small, Medium, Large or Colors: Blue, Red, Green.

Customer Choices can be either drop down lists referred to as “Select Lists”,  Checkbox lists referred to as “Checkboxes” or Text fields allowing for free form text input.

Accessing Customer Choices

To access customer choices, go to the product you wish to change the customer choices for and select “Customer Choices” from the left hand menu as shown below

Clicking on Customer Choices will bring up the Customer Choices Page that looks like the below:

Adding a new Customer Choice

To add a new choice first select the choice type from the dropdown menu and then click Add Choice.  The options are as shown:

Select Lists

Editing A Select List

To add a select list select “Select List” and click “Add Choice”.  A new Customer Choice will display as shown below with a default name “New Choice” this can be edited later.

To edit the Select List, click on the Edit button next to the select list you wish to edit. To bring up the new page “Edit Choice (Select List)” as shown below

Here we edit the settings of Select List Including the following options:

  • Name – The default option is added as “New Choice” you’ll want to change this to something unique like “color” or “size” or such.
  • Hide Name – The name of the select list can be displayed on product pages by selecting “Not Hidden” or hidden on product pages by selecting “Hidden”.
  • Variant – All configurable options can be used as product variants. Variants allow us to modify Inventory, SKU, Price and Weight based on the setting of the Customer Choice that’s assigned as a variant. We’ll review Variants seperately.

Once your options are set you can click Save Changes to save the Select List options.

Adding Select List Items

Once you’re on the edit Choice (Select List) screen at the bottom is the list of Items. You can add items but entering the name for the item and then clicking “Add Item”.  Once you add an Item the list of Items will adjust and look similar to the below:

You’ll want to first add all of your list items and then you can start editing them.

Editing Select List Items

Once you’ve added your items you can edit their settings by clicking the “Edit” button next to the choice.  This will bring up a new set of editable options as displayed below:

Here you can edit the following settings:

  • Name – The name of the choice
  • Is Label – If the choice is a Label
  • Price Adjustment – Enter a new price if it should adjust the price of the product. This can be either a positive number (10.00 to increase price by $10.00) or a negative number (-10.00) to reduce the price by $10.00.
  • Weight Adjustment – Enter the weight adjustment amount and this too can be a positive or negative number.

Once your choices are edited, click “Save Changes” and move on to the next Choice Option.

To edit the Checkbox, click on the Edit button next to the checkbox you wish to edit. To bring up the new page “Edit Choice (Check Boxes)” as shown below

Here we edit the settings of Checkbox Including the following options:

Here you can edit the following settings:

  • Name – The name of the choice

Ordering Checkbox Items

When you have more than on choice option in a Customer Choice you may want to rearrange the order of the choices. You do this by clicking and holding down on the arrow icon box show below and then moving the item either up or down in the list:

In the example above “Second Choice” is below “Third Choice” we’ll click on the move icon and drag the option up one level as shown below:

Text Input

Editing A Text Input

To add a Text Input select “Text Input” and click “Add Choice”.  A new Customer Choice will display as shown below with a default name “New Choice” this can be edited later.

To edit the Text Input, click on the Edit button next to the Text Input you wish to edit. To bring up the new page “Edit Choice (Text Input)” as shown below

Here we edit the settings of Select List Including the following options:

  • Name – The default option is added as “New Choice” you’ll want to change this to something unique like “Engraving” or “Special Instructions” or such.
  • Hide Name – The name of the text input can be displayed on product pages by selecting “Not Hidden” or hidden on product pages by selecting “Hidden”.
  • Required – Text Inputs can be required or Optional and you’d set that option here

Once your options are set you can click Save Changes to save the Text Input options.
